CHIPPENHAM TOWN: Second Kettering match called off

CHIPPENHAM Town's Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division rivals Kettering Town have had a second fixture inside four days called off.

The crisis-hit Poppies home meeting with Bideford has been postponed because the club currently have no electricity at their Nene Park ground.

Kettering's scheduled match against Leamington in midweek was called off by league officials because of a shortage of players. The Poppies could only field 10 players in last Saturday's 7-0 Evostik Southern Premier defeat by Bashley.

They must also pay £3,000 as part of a company voluntary agreement to avoid a winding-up petition.

Kettering are bottom of the league on -5 points after a 10-point deduction.

A Evo-Stik League statement said: "The League has been informed by Kettering Town that due to a dispute with their energy supplier there will be no electricity at the ground to be able to stage their league fixture on Saturday.

"Therefore there is no alternative other than to accept that the match is postponed.''
