TROWBRIDGE & DISTRICT LEAGUE DIVISION THREE: Two off as nine-man United beat the Stiffs
2:30pm Monday 8th October 2012 in Sport
UNITED FC may have comfortably won their Division Three clash against The Stiffs but their 8-1 victory was spoiled by the sending off of both Krzystof Kopacz and Artur Laga which left manager Iljaz Iljazi dumfounded as the former had scored four of his sides goals before seeing red.
Kopacz gave United the perfect start when he scored after just 22 seconds on his way to netting a four-timer. Mateusz Piotrowski, Jozef Zapotoczny, Mariuz Jackiewics and Nicholas Joseuski shared the other.
Scott Ball scored the Stiffs consolation.
Bradford United Reserves 3 Polenez Westbury 0
THREE goals in the final 20 minutes of their game at Culver Close earned hosts Bradford United Reserves a 3-0 victory over a hard-working Polenez Westbury outfit.
After a goalless first half that saw both team have chances to open the scoring the stalemate was finally broken on 70 minutes when Marcus Brown gave Bradford the lead.
Number two quickly followed and that went to Aaron Burbidge and the points were secured by Lance Davis who made it 3-0 late in the game.
Bratton Reserves 1 Levi’s FC 12
AFTER a sluggish start to their first-ever league campaign Levi’s, who managed just two goals in their opening two games, look to have finally found their scoring boots and their 12-1 win away at Bratton Reserves, their first win in the league took their goals for tally in the last three games to 25.
Levi’s who led 4-0 at the break saw the floodgates open in the second period as the scored at will and really should have scored more than they actually did.
Jason Povey and Levi Woods had a field day in front of goals scoring four each. Marc Harewood’s double gave him his first goals for the club and a goal apiece for Nick Mead and Gavin Collier which were also their first of the season made up the dozen.
Liam Griffiths was Bratton’s lone marksman.
Civil Service Larkhall 0 Trowbridge Town Reserves 4
TROWBRIDGE Town Reserves find themselves in third spot after their 4-0 victory at fellow newcomers Civil Service Larkhall.
The first half started at a rather pedestrian pace, but Trowbridge quickly got their noses in front with Dan Cockerill and Natty Mills combining down the right side for Mills to cross and Ashley Poms finishing with a neat side foot after just four minutes.
Ten minutes later an Aaron McCaldon pass found Mitchell Spackman, who threaded an inch perfect deliery to the ever lively Mills who finish well to make it 2-0.
Further chances followed for both teams, but it wasn't until the introduction of debutant Josh Ferguson, for the injured Spackman on 40 minutes that another breakthrough was made.
Ferguson soon made his presence felt with a delightful run across the eighteen yard box followed by low drive which found the corner of the net to take The Bees in 3-0 up at half time.
The second half saw Trowbridge dominate the game almost entirely, but despite having numerous chances with shots from Poms, Tom Moore, Kurt James, Ferguson, Adam Potter and Conor Green, a saved penalty and disallowed goal, Trowbridge only recorded one more goal.
This came in the 72nd minute, when an excellent through ball from Kieran McCaldon found Ferguson for him to slot home his second and Trowbridge's fourth.
Trowbridge Rangers 0 Lacock FC 3
WITH third division leaders Westwood News in Junior Cup action and second in the table Fleece without a game, Lacock took full advantage of their opportunity to close the gap at the top of the standings.
A 3-0 win for the visitors away at Trowbridge Rangers moved them above the Fleece and into second spot just two points behind Westwood.
Luke Wolf’s goal separated the teams at the break, Paul Edwards doubled Lacock’s advantage before Jake Marshall wrapped up victory for the villagers.
