LIFE as a Chippenham Town player is even better than he expected it to be for new boy Tyrone Mings.
The full-back, who lives in the town, developed a long-standing association with the Hardenhuish Park club through father and former Bluebirds boss Adie.
Shortly after Mings senior left his role as director of football for a scouting role with Chelsea, his son joined the Bluebirds from Yate Town last month.
The young defender, who also had a spell at Corsham Town, has been cup-tied for the side’s FA Cup run, but thinks he’s adjusted well to the demands of Southern League football.
“It seemed like a logical move,” said Mings. “It’s where I live, my dad’s been associated with the club for a long time, and it’s a very good club to move on to from Yate.
“It’s probably better than I thought it would be. I thought it would be good but it’s excellent and I can’t complain about anything.
“Training’s good, the team and the lads are good, and the atmosphere is good too – it’s also really close for me.
“I think the feedback I’ve had from the manager has been good too, so I can’t complain about how I’ve started.”
