SWINDON TOWN: Loan signing Jabo is on the offensive
JABO Ibehre has called for all-out attack from his new Colchester teammates when they visit Swindon Town tonight in search of their first win away from home this season.
Ibehre joined on loan from MK Dons last week and wasted no time in endearing himself to the U’s faithful, scoring twice on his debut to hand manager Joe Dunne victory in his first game in charge of the club after succeeding the sacked John Ward.
The striker is well aware of the task at hand when he and the rest of the Essex outfit’s squad make the trip to the County Ground, but he has urged Colchester not to be intimidated by a Swindon side looking for their fifth consecutive victory.
And he suggested that the U’s fight fire with fire.
"Swindon is another tough game but every game is tough,” he said. "But the best form of defence is attack and we'll go there and see what we can do.
"It should be a good game. We're going to try and put a run together.
"I'm sure I'll get a lot of chances to score goals and I think we're just going to get more confident.”
Meanwhile, Dunne was pleased with what he saw from his players in the 3-1 defeat of Hartlepool on Saturday, Colchester’s first win of the term.
And he has asked for self-expression from his squad at the County Ground this evening.
“It’s only one win and it will be a tough game at Swindon,” he said.
“But the previous manager John said we were close to getting that first win and we always knew that.
"We just lacked a bit of cutting edge.
"But we saw that against Hartlepool and with a bit more clinical finishing, we could have got a few more.
“If my players don’t express themselves, they won’t play.
“Their ambition should be to play higher and be the best they possibly can for themselves and make the best living out of the game that they can.
“They won’t do that by staying here so if they can express themselves and make themselves better, they will move on.”
