COMMUNITY CORNER: Disability group enjoy road trip

SWINDON Town Football in the Community Trust’s DS Active group recently travelled to take on the Northampton Town Disability Football Group.
The STFC DS Active team, led by community manager Clive Maguire and STFiTC community coach Alan Minns, took part in the day alongside their counterparts from the Cobblers.
The event kicked off with a small football-based training session before both teams headed out onto the pitch for a five-a-side competition.
Clive Maguire, Community Trust manager, said: “The event was a fantastic day for all the youngsters involved.
“It is brilliant that our DS Active group can put what they have learnt from their weekly sessions into practice against a fellow football club’s Football in the Community Disability group. “The day was all about enjoyment and having fun and all of those involved certainly had that. “We hope that these types of events with fellow football clubs continue into the near future and beyond.”
The Swindon Town Football in the Community Trust DS Active group participate in weekly sessions on a Wednesday evening at the Haydon Centre, an indoor sports hall, between 5pm and 6pm.

The boys beat City 4-3 in the National Futsal League l THE Swindon Town Futsal girls also enjoyed a victorious week.
They saw off Southampton 2-1 in a friendly match held at Croft Sports Centre.
