WILTSHIRE LEAGUE: Ryan mighty as Park whack Wroughton

DAVE Ferris was full of praise for young midfielder Ryan Campbell after he starred in Chippenham Park’s comfortable win over Wroughton last weekend.

Alex Pring put Park ahead before Ben Wickens netted either side of half-time, with his first coming from the penalty spot.

But Ferris singled out Campbell as his man of the match and said: “Ben Wickens has been scoring goals and Shane Blackmore’s been playing well for us too but Ryan makes us tick.

“He was the smallest person on the pitch on Saturday and every week, teams try to kick 10 bells out of him but he gets up and gets on with it.

“He was man of the match against Wroughton and he’s only young but he’s a big talent.”

Vale of Pewsey launched a second-half fightback in their 4-2 home defeat by Purton Reserves.

Trailing 3-0 at half time, a 30-yard strike from Gareth Robb and Danny Horwood’s injury-time effort proved just a consolation for the visitors.

A dramatic final 10 minutes saw Wilts Calne Town earn a 2-2 draw at Trowbridge Town.

Mark Dolman opened the scoring for the visitors after half an hour, but the majority of the action came late on as Paul Gittens smashed home the equaliser.

New boy Gittens took his tally to five in two games as he headed home Mike Hill’s corner, but Dolman ensured parity with his second strike as Trowbridge took their unbeaten run to seven games.

In Division One, Ant Brown’s magnificent strike gave Malmesbury Victoria Reserves a 2-1 win over local rivals Wootton Bassett Town Development.

Vics trailed to a first-half goal, but levelled on the hour when Josh Newman turned and fired home.

Brown’s brilliant strike – curling home from 35 yards – settled the match.
