TROY Archibald-Henville has thanked Swindon Town manager Paolo Di Canio and his coaching staff for guiding him through his recent injury problems, both mentally and physically.
Archibald-Henville has spent several weeks on the sidelines with a strain in a muscle at the back of a knee but could be included in Town’s matchday squad at Carlisle on Saturday.
And the former Exeter centre-back has revealed that Di Canio and his backroom team have ensured that his period out of the game has not become too painful.
“Before they said to me ‘try to stay positive, don’t get frustrated’,” he told the Advertiser.
“I think that’s the easiest thing to do and it’s happened to me in the past. Every player will probably tell you when you get injured and you’re out it’s so frustrating.
“You want to get back.
“They told me to stay positive and stay focused on getting back and getting back in the team.
“Although you know that’s the right thing to do, no one has actually said it to me before coach-wise.
“No one has spoken to me, taken me to the side and said to me ‘keep positive and you’ll be back soon’.”
After starting the first two games of the campaign, Archibald-Henville appeared to be one of the first names on Di Canio’s teamsheet.
But the ex-Tottenham trainee has gone on to watch Aden Flint secure a regular run in the side as well as see Darren Ward arrive on loan from Millwall.
However, he is ready to rise to the challenge and force his way back into the Robins’ starting line-up.
“Like I said before any of the games, I knew there was competition for places and with Wardy now it’s a bit more so now,” he said. “But I’m still the same, my plan here is still the same.
“I still want play as much as I can and do as much as I can for the team and for the club, as well as doing well for myself.
“Everyone was happy with the result at Stoke and we’ve had a few negative results since then but I think we’ll do well.
“I’m confident the team will do well this season.
“On Saturday we didn’t do as well as we could do but we know that. We’ve talk about it. We talk about stuff all the time, even after the games where we do well we talk about how to improve and how to do better in the next game.
“I’m sure we’re going to do well and we’re going to have another successful season like last year.”

I`ve seen Troy play twice and have seen what good anticipation and positional sense he has. Aden will have to be on tiptop form to keep him out of the starting eleven.

Last season a debate went on about Macca at CB in L1 and whether he would be good enough or not - and due to our cup exploits most felt he would be - me included
.
However, as Den has always says cup should be ignored as it is no real representation of the league
.
I not too sure if we will see Flint and Troy
.
Both very similar and bothvery young
.
I personally think we will see Troy and Ward before too long
.
Macca will then probably challenge Navarro for the anchor role in midfield with Ferry and Miller the creative role
.
As I said when we signed Coke - not sure where this leaves him really unless he simply adds options to both midfield roles

Don't think Flint will cut it in this side, Maca clearly employed in sweeper type role when we are attacking, and he has been very good at this, as he is very mobile and good in the air, with decent distribution. Flint doesn't bring these skills to the party. I would see us line up as a back three, Troy Ward Bessone Macca in front... who knows only the PDC man
Would like to see a settled side again. Could be Troy and Flint in the centre, could Troy and Ward (some have written him off, unfairly I reckon - comments of "worst player ever" spring to mind as particular examples of reactionary stupidity). Looks likely Troy will end up first choice centre half when fit as he seems to be the most rounded player we have in that position.

I think Flint and Archie would make a very no nonsense pairing, which will be good in some games, I personally thought Macca would be better in Midfield anyway.
It seems that Caddis going and five new faces in had a negative effect on the team.... I thought the team looked settled and positive before we signed 5 players.

Just got back from Hollibobs, firstly, what brilliant news that MR has signed a contract extention.... loving that news, secondly, WTF happened with Preston and Orient.....and the Oxford....

Could answer that,
Paolo will take us up. He is the right man at Swindon but the one thing I have learnt about him since the Preston game is that he could not/ never will manage a bigger club than Swindon.
Could you imagine him managing players who on 50 grand+ a week? They would eat him alive, also no other chairman would employ him after the individual slating to players.
Caddis yes that needed to come out, but as for flint that should have been done behind closed doors IMO .
Even the crowd wasn't singing his name against l.o
