MINGS: Thanking everyone for their support
3:00pm Friday 7th September 2012 in Sport
CHIPPENHAM has always been a huge part of my career in football and I can’t thank everyone enough for all the help they’ve given me over the years.
I need to thank all of the players who worked with me, as well as the fans and everyone else associated with the club.
Those fans have kept faith in me when we went through financial issues and other tough times.
The directors have always been fantastic and I couldn’t have asked for an easier chairman to work with than John (Applegate).
There are so many other great people that I’ve met, especially in my five-and-a-half years in charge, and if there’s anyone who ever wants my thoughts on anything, then I’m only going to be a phone call away.
I think that the nucleus of a very good side is there at the moment and I like to think that I played a part in putting that together.
We’ve had some great times, like when we’ve reached play-off finals and we’ve been unlucky not to have got what we wanted on those days.
Youth development and working with kids has always been a big part of my job and I’ll still be staying in this area as part of my full-time job.
I’m hoping to try and get back for games whenever I can and I’ll still be reading the paper to see how things are going.
Chippenham is a massive club in terms of location and fanbase and hopefully there are some exciting times ahead for the supporters, especially with the two new development sides just getting started.
Unfortunately it didn’t happen in my time there but hopefully one day soon, the fans can see the club reach the promised land of the Conference South – it’s where they deserve to be.
And if that happens, I hope that I’d be invited back for any celebration parties that are going on.
