CHIPPENHAM TOWN: Rogers relishes Town honour
4:00pm Friday 7th September 2012 in Sport By Dan Barnes
Chippenham skipper Scott Rogers
SCOTT Rogers says being named as Chippenham Town’s captain is a “massive honour” and the midfielder is hoping that he can repay the faith shown in him by boss Nathan Rudge this season.
Rogers has been a mainstay in the side since his summer move from Eastleigh and has worn the armband since the opening weekend’s trip to Hemel Hempstead Town.
“I like to think that I’m a leader-type on the pitch because I’m desperate to win and I want all my teammates to be the same too,” said Rogers.
“I want to try and get the best out of them and I want them to do the same for me because sometimes I think that we can be a little bit naive and we’ve got to be a little more ruthless.
“I was over the moon (to be named captain) and it’s a massive honour because wherever I’ve played, Chippenham’s always been a big club to play against and they’ve always had good support.
“I’m chuffed to bits to be made the captain here and I want to do the armband justice.
“You’ve got to lead by example and be the last person to let their head go down and I think I’m one of those people.”
