10:59am Thursday 6th September 2012 in Sport
Levi Cox netted a hat-trick as Calne Town claimed the scalp of Hellenic League rivals Highworth in the FA Vase last night.
After Saturday's 1-1 draw set up a replay at Bremhill View, it was the visitors who were ahead around 30 mintues in when Talif Hamza rounded CalNe keeper Steve Allison to score.
But four minutes later, the Lilywhites' Alex Rigley crossed from the left for Cox to level the scores.
In the 62nd minute, Rigley set up Cox again, who netted with a powerful effort to give Jeff Roberts and Drew Youngsam's men the lead.
But Highworth's Criag Whitbread netted a late equaliser to force extra-time.
Early in the first period of added time, Calne's Cox restored his side's lead when he fired home a deflected shot for his hat-trick.
Then, Highworth keeper Ryan Griggs played a goal-kick straight to the feet of Lilywhites substitute Tom Boakes, who fired straight into the goal to make it 4-2 and secure Calne a second qualifying round trip to Wessex League Fleet Spurs on SeptembeR 15.
The Lilywhites host Cheddar in the Toolstation League First Division this weekend.
