SWINDON TOWN: Summer course success for Football in the Community Trust
6:00am Saturday 1st September 2012 in Sport
SWINDON Town Football in the Community Trust have been playing their part in unearthing the next Swindon Town starlets, by hosting summer coaching schools across the county and beyond.
STFITCT have coached more than 1,000 youngsters over six weeks at Swindon, Chippenham, Ashton Keynes, Lambourn, Beversbrook, Tetbury, Archway and Kingston Bagpuize.
Scheme manager Clive Maguire said: “It has been a amazing summer which has seen us run courses all over the county and further afield.
“I would like to thank all the coaches and children for their fantastic efforts.
“The trust have also found a few gems over the summer that have been passed onto the STFC Centre Of Excellence and hopefully can go on and play for the first team one day.”
The next development courses will take place during the October half-term (October 30-November 2nd).
During school term time, STFITCT run weekly sessions for children and these will start on Monday, September 10.
Next week also sees the Girls’ Centre for Football Excellence kick off at Croft’s 3G football pitches. The girls face a stiff challenge from Reading in three weeks.
STFITCT will run under 10s, under 11s, under 12s, under 13s and under 15s age groups and all girls will be keen to get going.
Continuing is the Tiny Tots programme, which are designed for 2-4 year olds and take place on a weekly basis in leisure centres around Swindon.

It would be great to see the club develop a reputation like Crewe for bringing on the youngsters. Even Man U now struggle to keep up with the spending power of the neighbours.
