PARALYMPIC GAMES: Millward storms into 100m backstroke final

Wiltshire swim star Stephanie Millward is in to this evening's S9 100m backstroke final at the Paralympic Games after winning her heat this morning.

The 30-year-old, from Corsham, finished in 1:10.81 at the London Aquatics Centre, beating Paralympic legend Natalie du Toit, who took the gold medal ahead of Millward in yesterday's S9 100m butterfly.

The South African finished 1.71 seconds behind Team GB's Millward in 1:12.52.

The Wiltshire star was the second-fastest qualifier, behind New Zealand's Ellie Cole (1:10.74), and will go for gold at 6.12pm this evening.
