Di Canio to make late decision on Caddis

Paul Caddis could return for Town on Saturday Paul Caddis could return for Town on Saturday

SWINDON manager Paolo Di Canio will decide tomorrow morning whether or not former captain Paul Caddis will be involved in his side’s opening day clash with Hartlepool.

The Italian stripped the right back of the captain’s armband and replaced him with Alan McCormack after questioning Caddis’ attitude, and the Scot was sat in the stand for Town’s 3-0 Capital One Cup victory over Brighton on Tuesday night.

But Di Canio has left the door open for Caddis to return, and will make a late decision on whether or not to take him to the North East.

“I will decide tomorrow morning, but Paul Caddis is one of my 24 players in here," he said.

“Every day I will judge my players, and if he satisfies me maybe he will travel and maybe he will play.”

Gary Roberts and James Collins will return to the squad following injury and international duty respectively, but Di Canio is undecided whether or not they will start.

I have heard on the grapevine that our next signing will be Maris Piper who currently plays for Wilja in the Netherlands.
He was educated locally at King Edward School in Bath, and Maris and his girlfriend Desiree have been recently spotted at the County Ground.

Good to see that Caddis is still in his reckoning!

On a different note, does anyone know what our ticket allocation is? Tickets can only be bought on the day up at Hartlepool and that is a long way to go only to find that all tickets have been sold.

I am taking "she who must be obeyed" who would not be best pleased if that happened!

Was he wearing a jacket? or had he peeled off his clothes? I heard he was great at chipping the ball and with his pace would roast the opposition?

Holds 7767 average 4791 last season,so if you do the sums we can sit anywhere in the ground and at £25 a ticket not many will fill it with the lack of unemployment.
The corner flag pub we can use, and as they say up north lad just put 50p in box.
Looking forward to the game, but not the journey.

Desiree has large eyes, and is nicely rounded. Maris's career was blighted early on but a mixture of being on loan to Bordeaux and cold weather therapy turned that around. Maris is just one of a fine young crop.

No panic on tickets and plently of space to accomodate the travelling Swindon fans.

I understand he has have blue blood, being related to King Edward. He also has a huge chip on his shoulder which will probably lead to a few roatings from Paolo.

Have to say this is fantastic news. Very much states that Caddis is still in contention which is much better than hearing he is frozen out for the time being. Let hope they have kissed and made up and Paul and Paolo can get along again so our now Ex-captain fantastic can return.

Also delighted that we have Collins and Roberts back.

Interesting bit of news. A few days ago I'd have had a decent bet that Caddis wouldn't play for us again. I suppose I should know better by now than try to predict PDC's actions. If he gets back into the side, with McCormack as captain, I reckon that will be a pretty good outcome. Devera would have every right to feel a bit miffed if he loses his place tomorrow though. I thought he did well enough on Tuesday to deserve a start.

I understand that devera may feel a bit miffed but I would much rather have Caddis in than RB slot than Devera. Not because Devera isnt good enough, but because Caddis is alot more suited to our style of play and Ritchie plays better when Caddis is behind him.

Really hope Caddis plays saturday as going forward Tuesday night i thought we lacked balance without him and Ritchie combining and if the partnership is as good as last season with those two we will be a force and if Roberts is back as well we will have a good team that will have plenty of pace and width.
Im sure Caddis will have his positive hat on and play saturday and i'm glad he is still ppart of the squad.

Fantastic news..
For me Caddis is a must have in this team and to have lost him would have been very careless.
Yes every player is replaceable, but
over the last two seasons I always felt we have looked a lesser side when he has been unavailable, no matter who covered his position.
Great to know he is back in contention.

Grim, I'm not saying Devera's an ideal right back and yes, Noone did get past him a few times, but overall I thought he did well as an emergency choice against higher grade opposition. He is much better in the air than Caddis, and that came in useful when Brighton were trying to hit long diagonal balls to their left wing. Caddis is the better footballer but I'm not sure he's the better defender.
