FORMER Chippenham Town striker Lewis Powell has completed a surprise switch to the Bluebirds' Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division rivals Frome Town on the eve of the new season.

Powell, who scored more than 50 times in three seasons at Hardenhuish Park, was expected to complete a move to Leamington after announcing he was leaving Chippenham earlier this summer.

However, with the paperwork not completed on a move to the Midlands, Robins boss Darren Perrin stepped in to snap up the Welsh striker.

Powell missed most of last season with a broken leg.
