WILTSHIRE Ladies’ highly-successful 2012 campaign in the South West Counties League continued at Devizes.
They followed up victories over west country rivals Cornwall and Somerset, recording their third win in a row as they defeated Worcestershire 108-99 to collect 16 points out of a possible 22.
The win moved Wiltshire into top spot in the table on 53 points at their halfway point, eight clear of Somerset who have played four matches and 17 points clear of Dorset who have only played two games so far.
Rink honours against Worcestershire were shared at 3-3. But Alex Jacobs (B0x) and Spencer Melksham’s Delia Godwin’s rinks recorded comfortable 13 and 12 shots victories respectively that were vital in the final analysis, while in a tight game, the quartet of Fizz Mace (North Wilts) edged home 16-15.
On the reverse side, the rink of Marguerite Alexander (Devizes) only lost by two shots and Babs Salter (Wroughton) by three but Wendy Anderson (Stratton Churchway) suffered a 12 shot loss.
Wiltshire trailed 30-21 at five ends but had fought back to lead 51-47 at ten ends and were never headed again.
The next SWCL match was scheduled for yesterday against Herefordshire at Stratton Churchway.

WILTSHIRE Ladies compete in the regional final of the Walker Cup, inter-county double rinks, this Sunday at Taunton.
The selectors have chosen the same eight players and two rinks that beat both Cornwall 47-22 and Somerset 42-35 in the previous two rounds.
Wiltshire face Herefordshire in the first semi-final (10am) at Taunton and if successful will then in the afternoon meet the winners of the Worcestershire v Dorset semi tie with a place in the last four at Leamington in the Walker Cup, the prize on offer.
