  • "I'm interested to see how Benson gets on in League 1. Having looked excellent in L2, I was surprised he was at that lowly level. Is there that big a gap? There must be some reason why he's not a L1 regular.

I wasn't that impressed by many strikers in L2 last season tbh, exceptions being Barnett at Crawley, Howe of Torquay and Carrol at Rovers looked a handful although not mobile.

Collins was OK but I wasn't thinking 'we must sign this guy', but maybe that's because I was focussing on Shrews centre midfielder Richards who looked their top man.

Shame to see Connell go but he's no Austin or Simon Cox."

SWINDON TOWN: Town confirm transfer-listed quartet

TWO regular members of the Swindon Town team that claimed the League Two title in 2011/12 have been transfer-listed, the club has confirmed.

Alan Connell and Jonathan Smith - who made 70 appearances between them in the league last term - have been told they can leave the County Ground this summer.

Connell top scored for the Robins with 13 goals in his first season since arriving from Grimsby last year, while Smith contributed three from midfield as Swindon emerged as champions.

The duo are joined on the transfer list by midfielder Lee Cox and goalkeeper Mattia Lanzano.
