CHIPPENHAM TOWN Bowls Club started their centenary celebrations with a clash against Bowls Wiltshire men at their Hardenhuish Park base last weekend.

The visitors’ side was packed with past and present county men’s officials and included seven former Wiltshire presidents, as well as Bowls England director Howard Pryse.

On the sidelines at Hardenhuish Park were Chippenham residents and former county men’s presidents John Northover – Town’s president – and Bowls England junior vice-president and 2014 national president Adie Lloyd.

Chippenham made home advantage pay, running out comfortable 28-shot winners, 124-96.

They took the honours on four of the six rinks, one of those being club chairman and captain, John Lucas, who led his foursome to victory over county president Colin Sheppard’s rink skipped by Keith Hutchens by six shots.
