  • "With absolutely no disrespect meant or intended, common Adver, lets move on if we can. How about some names of players who are not going to be here next season, closely followed by some hints, if possible, of those that are maybe coming in.
It would be very nice to read it here first, so come on chaps, be a star, and give us guys something to mutter about."

SWINDON TOWN: Bodin and Thompson offered new deals

Swindon Town's Billy Bodin has been offered a new deal Swindon Town's Billy Bodin has been offered a new deal

BILLY Bodin and Nathan Thompson have been offered new contracts by Swindon Town, the Advertiser understands.

The duo, who are products of the youth development system at the County Ground, were set to see their current deals with the Robins expire this summer but the Adver has learnt that offers are on the table for both players to extend their stays in Wiltshire.

Bodin is currently on loan at Crewe, where he came off the bench to play a brief cameo in Alex’s 1-0 victory over Southend in the League Two play-offs on Sunday, and has been in and out of favour under Town manager Paolo Di Canio over the course of the past 12 months.

The Welshman, who has been called up as standby to his country’s senior squad for the first time for the friendly against Mexico on May 27, made 11 appearances for Swindon during the 2011/12 campaign, scoring three goals.

However, Bodin spent a successful spell with Torquay, where he netted five times in 19 outings for the Gulls, and he was linked with a move to the Devon club in January.

Thompson, 21, made seven appearances for Town this term.

The future of four other players - Phil Smith, Callum Kennedy, Mark Scott and Lander Gabilondo - remains unclear, with Swindon expected to announce their retained list in full later this week.
