The lad wants games and to play every wekend. Now tghere's the perfect reason we should be in a reserve league.
Playing 3 or 4 resrve games v decent opposition is a waste of players labour and talent.
Reserve football is a must despite what our friend L/R says.
Totally agree, and mid week reserve games can give a good pointer to performance should the player be needed on the pitch or as sub at the weekend.

Playing against players not known to them sharpens their concentration and determination, especially if it is in a league environment of some sort."

Gabilondo vows to succeed - with or without Town

STAYING OR GOING?: Lander Gabilondo STAYING OR GOING?: Lander Gabilondo

WINGER Lander Gabilondo is determined to make a success of himself in English football even if he is not offered a new deal with Swindon Town.

The 25-year-old is out of contract after signing a one-year deal with Town in August last year following his release from Osasuna and had made 18 appearances for the club.

But the Spaniard has also spent long spells out of the team, and despite enjoying his time at the County Ground he knows it might be tough for him to earn himself a new contract.

“Hopefully we can play together in the future,” he told the Advertiser.

“But it has been a year with a few ups and a few downs, there have been moments where I have played usually so that was good, but there were times when I did not play. We are players and we like to play all of the time.

“I would love to stay, but I want to play as well because I am a young man and I need games. I need to play every week and if I can’t play here I should move to another team.

“My intention is to stay and make a career in England because this atmosphere and the way of life is good and I enjoy the football.”

Talks have yet to begin over a new deal, and even if he does leave the club he will look back on his season with Swindon fondly.

“But the experience of the whole year has been amazing and I got to live in a new country, with a new team, and with some new lads, so I have to say a big thank you to everyone for this year,” he said.

“It is one of the biggest things I have done in my career, and I have loved being at Swindon because (becoming) champions was great because since I came to the club in August that is all we wanted to do.

“If I leave here it is with all my gratitude to everyone.”
