SWINDON TOWN: Tickets selling fast for Port Vale clash

THE County Ground is set to be packed for Swindon Town’s potentially title-clinching clash with Port Vale on Saturday with more than 10,000 tickets already sold.

Town will win the league if they can take three points from the game against a Vale side with nothing to play for, while a point will win the title if Shrewsbury fail to beat Dagenham.

If Town claim the crown they will be presented with the championship trophy in front of their own fans, on what promises to be an exciting day for everyone associated with the club.

Regardless of whether Town seal the title or not, the Swindon players will come out for a lap of honour after the game, and while chief executive Nick Watkins is delighted to have so many fans coming to the County Ground, he has called for supporters to stay off the pitch.

“The players and management would like to thank all supporters for what has been a successful and memorable season,” he said.

“We would ask fans to stay off the pitch to allow the players and management the opportunity to go around the home stands and thank all of the fans for their magnificent support and to celebrate promotion together.”

An end of season roll call will also be held to remember Swindon fans who passed away during the season, and the turnstiles will close at 2.50pm to allow for a minute’s silence to be held before kick-off.
