GILLINGHAM v TOWN: Di Canio makes eight changes

SWINDON boss Paolo Di Canio has made eight changes to the side that lost at Aldershot for today’s game with Gillingham.

Wes Foderingham, Joe Devera, Luke Rooney and Lee Cox are not involved as the fall-out from last Saturday continues, so Phil Smith starts in goal for Town this afternoon.

Devera picked up an injury at the EBB Stadium on Tuesday and was struggling to be fit anyway, while it is thought Rooney could not have played due an agreement in his transfer from Priestfield to the County Ground earlier in the season.

In the absence of Devera, Aden Flint partners Alan McCormack at the centre of the defence while Jay McEveley returns at left back.

Simon Ferry is back in the centre of a five man midfield alongside Oliver Risser and John Bostock, who will be looking to impress having played a limited role since joining the club on loan.

There is also a welcome return to the side for Matt Ritchie, who alongside Lee Holmes will provide some width and support for lone striker Alan Connell.

A point for Town will secure promotion, while three could make sure of the League Two title if Shrewsbury do not beat Accrington.

Town team: Smith; Caddis (capt), McCormack, Flint, McEveley; Ritchie, Ferry, Risser, Bostock, Holmes; Connell.

Subs: Scott (GK), Gabilondo, Murray, Smith J, Thompson N
