SCOTT Askew was Boomsbury’s hero as the third division side secured their place in the final of the Chantry Digital Ltd-sponsored Knockout Cup with a comfortable 5-0 success over first division The Deverills at North Bradley.
After a tepid start to the contest that saw neither side able to break the deadlock in the first half, the game burst into life in the second when Askew was introduced as a 55th-minute substitute.
Jamie Young scored Boomsbury’s opener and Askew made it 2-0 from the penalty spot.
Sam McWade’s 40 yarder made it 3-0 and it was game over shortly after when Deverills had Paul Farrell sent off after receiving a second yellow card.
Askew turned provider for goal number four when his cross was put in by Carl Davies and it was left to Askew to put the icing on the Boomsbury cake when he capped a fantastic 35-minute cameo with the winners' fifth.
Boomsbury will face either Melksham Town or Westbury United Reserves in the final.
