SWIMMING: Chippenham second again in the Summer League

CHIPPENHAM finished came second in the final Wiltshire Summer League gala.

Swimming against teams from Swindon Tigersharks, Corsham and Swindon Dolphins, Chippenham managed four wins and 23 second places on the night.

Their individual winners included Owen Wilson (U14) in the 33m breaststroke, George Claverley (U14, 33m backstroke) and Matthew Hare (U14, 33m butterfly).

Hare and Claverley combined with James Tucker and Sam Miller to win the freestyle relay and narrowly missed out to Tigersharks in the medley relay.

The girls U12 freestyle relay squad Harriet Olgivie, Bryony Cairns, Amy Hall and Tegan Cairns were narrowly beaten by Tigersharks in an exciting race, but expect to feature prominently in future galas.

The U12 boys squad - Andrew Hare, Cameron Perkins, Tom Tennant and Daniel Wiltshire - also did well to take second in both relays.

Chippenham’s club championship 800/1500m takes place on October 9.

Final points: Tigersharks 637 Chippenham 496 Corsham 447 Swindon Dolphin 413.
