Chippenham athlete Lucy Boggis starred at the recent European Cup Combined Events Super League, held in Szczecin in Poland.

This is a senior event and the most prestigeous in Europe after the European Championships with eight nations in this top league, including the UK, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, France, Italy, Sweden and the Netherlands.

With the absence of Olympic medallist Kelly Sotherton and 2012 medal hope Jessica Ennis; the UK team consisted of younger, less-experienced athletes including, youngest of all by over three years, 20-year-old Boggis.

Fresh from captaining the U23s to victory in the indoor international pentathlon at Cardiff earlier this year, this was her first senior international in the heptathlon.

She finished with a personal best performance of 5364 points, increasing her score by nearly 140 points. Lucy also set three other PBs along the way including 11.79 metres in the shot put, 5.70m in the long jump and 2.23.75 in the 800m, an amazing improvement of nearly six seconds.

Lucy finished third best Brit with the team finishing a close sixth, which ensures their place in the Super League next year, where, with this experience behind them, they will be looking for a podium finish.

Lucy has recently moved to train in Birmingham with Bejing Olympian Julie Holman, and although this has been a great move professionally,she misses her home in green countryside of Wiltshire and can't wait to get home on her one free day.

Her next big competition will be the U23 International at Watford in just over 3 weeks time, where she will be looking to be amongst the medals.
