Cricket: Calne beat Burbage & ER by seven wickets on Saturday to seal promotion to the Wiltshire Premier Division.
After missing the last two matches thanks to high rainfall, both clubs were glad to be finally getting another game.
Calne won the toss and inserted BERCC on a damp wicket more reminiscent of April than August.
Burbage made slow but steady progress getting to 48 for 2 after 23 overs.
David Cope then entered the fray and immediately timed the ball, scoring an aggressive 68 in quick time with 5 sixes (losing two balls).
However once David was fifth out with the score on 134 BERCC managed to subside to 139 all out - Chris Downham being the main beneficiary taking 4-14 off 6 overs, Dan Knight took 2-9 and Luke Edwards 2-25.
BERCC started well with Nic Cook dismissing both Calne openers in his first two overs to leave them at 5-2. Charlie Moss then strode to the wicket and rode his luck against Cook - who regularly beat the bat but just kept missing the stumps, ending with 2-22 from 8 overs.
However all the other bowlers BERCC tried couldn't find their rhythm and Moss smote them to all parts of the field, winning the match with a six taking him to 96 not out and excellent destructive innings.
With two rounds of matches left, Calne are virtually assured of promotion to the Wiltshire Premier League next season.
They also are set to emulate Potterne who last season won promotion by winning every league match they played.
