Prosser also attended Dauntsey's School, but more recently has been attending a special course in Sporting Excellence at Chippenham College and Bath University.

He said: "I'm thrilled to be selected for Wales' senior team and I see it as a major stepping stone for me to try and get selected for the GB team and the London Olympics."

Last Season Prosser played for Reading HC U18, who won the National Championships.

This season he has been playing for Bath Buccs. He was also selected to play in the Great Britain Super League over two weeekends in May which acts as selection base for the Great Britain Team.

Prosser has played for Wales at U16 and U18 level and is in the U21 team which is set to participate in the European Championships in late July.

He comes from a hockey family where his dad, David, captained Great Britain and Wales gaining over 90 caps.

David said: "I'm really proud of what he has achieved in such a short space of time.

"He has sacrificed a huge amount socially in order to adhere to a strict training regime.

"He has the talent to have a long and sucessful international career.

"A big thanks to Malik Sticks and Kennet D Co for providing their training facilities to him at Marlborough Leisure Centre."

Prosser's elder brother Harry is also a junior international for Wales having won a bronze medal at the U18 European Championships.
