Swindon Town manager Maurice Malpas is hoping to land Bristol City winger Scott Murray -but says Christian Roberts still has a future at the club.
Murray, 34, has been offered a new one-year contract by the Championship club but the offer of first team football could tempt him to move down the M4.
Malpas said: "I've spoken to the Bristol City manager to see what players are available.
"I like Scott Murray, he's my kind of player. He fits the bill.
"He's seen it, done it and got the t-shirt."
Malpas is looking to fill the hole at right wing left by Gazette & Herald columnist Christian Roberts, who will miss the start of the season after suffering a micro-fracture of his right knee.
Malpas is still a keen admirer of Roberts' abilities and is looking forward to having the 28-year-old back in the fold.
He said: "Christian has a lot of hard work to do, we don't want to put any pressure on him regarding his contract.
"Everyone knows he's got a lot of talent.
"We have a decent player, we just have to make sure he recovers properly and remains a consistent performer."
Roberts is hoping to start running again in six to eight weeks and is aiming for an October return from the serious knee injury he picked up in March.
Murray had his best season at Ashton Gate in the 2002/2003 season netting 26 goals and was a regular in Bristol City's promotion winning season from League One.
However last season he only started four Championship games and made ten appearances as a substitute.
