Football: Worried Devizes Town striker Daniel Sloan believes the club have taken a backwards step by appointing Kevin Whitbread and Shaun Moffat as managers.
The Nursteed Road outfit's 15-goal top scorer feels their lack of experience in the Western League will make it hard for the club to survive next season.
Moffat and Whitbread were appointed joint managers last Friday as caretaker boss Steve Hale prepares to leave for Thatcham Town after Saturday's final game of the season at Frome.
But Sloan, who played under the pair when they were Devizes reserve team bosses in 2006/7, is concerned.
"If you ask me I think the club has taken a backwards step," he said.
"The club have done well this year and it has been our best finish for some while.
"But it is a big ask for Kev and Shaun to be honest, they do not have a lot of experience at this level."
Sloan cast doubt over whether Moffat and Whitbread would be able to attract the players the club needs to succeed.
"The thing they may lack is the contacts Paul Thompson and Steve Hale had with clubs like Cirencester and Swindon Supermarine," he said.
Sloan also believes there could be a player exodus during the summer.
He said: "I'm not sure what players are going to stay or go.
"You never know because Haler might want to take some off to Thatcham with him.
"Personally I'm not sure what I am doing next season.
"If a bigger club comes in then I will consider their offer because I want to play at a high standard."
Moffat refuted Sloan's claims and said: "Dan is entitled to his own opinions, hopefully he and all the others will stay.
"We would not be involved if we did not have the ambition to take the club forward."
