ROYAL Wootton Bassett are on course to retain their Wiltshire Men’s Four Rink League play-offs title.

They are one of eight clubs to have reached the play-offs (quarter-final) stages of the competition.

Royal Wootton Bassett, the holders, won the northern section with 179 points although they only played 13 matches their game against Swindon West End is still outstanding.

They headed Westlecot on 170 points with surprise package Marlborough in third place on 132 with Highworth fourth on 124 points, four above fifth placed Purton.

In the south section Chippenham Town, who constantly were under the shadow of Bassett and Westlecot until the sections were changed last season, won their final match against Corsham 12 points to two in order to top the southern table with 164 points and pip regular winners Holt by two points for top spot.

Avon won their final match whitewashing Warminster 117-52 (16pts to nil) to leap above Salisbury and Spencer Moulton into third place with 149 points. Salisbury finish fourth on 143 with Spencer Moulton who had been in the top three all season missing out by two on 141 points.

The quarter-finals are scheduled to be played on or before Sunday, August 26.
