SWINDON Town's League Two opponents this weekend, Lincoln City, have suffered a blow after captain Luke Waterfall signed for League One Shrewsbury Town.
Waterfall's exit was confirmed today, the 28-year-old joining the Shrews on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee after a release fee in his contract was met.
A Lincoln statement said: "Luke Waterfall has left the Imps to join Shrewsbury Town after the undisclosed fee offered by the Sky Bet League One side triggered a release clause in the defender's contract.
"The 28-year-old made over 130 appearances during his three-year stay at Sincil Bank, and departs with a National League title and a Checkatrade Trophy triumph next to his name.
"Waterfall signed for the Imps from Wrexham in the summer of 2015, and has worn the armband for the previous two seasons.
"Everyone at Lincoln City Football Club would like to thank Luke for his efforts during his time at Sincil Bank, and wish him all the best for the future."
Town go to Sincil Bank on Saturday for their second League Two game following their 3-2 home win over Macclesfield Town last weekend. Lincoln were 1-0 winners at Northampton Town on the same day.
