CALNE Town boss Ben Redford hopes a fresh approach to the season can earn his troops a top-half finish in the Toolstation League First Division.

Redford, who will be aided by joint-manager Clive McDaid, admits Calne are better prepared for the campaign compared to 12 months ago after welcoming 10 new faces to the club.

And with further additions planned, Redford hopes entering the season with organisation on their side will pay dividends on the pitch.

He said: “We have had a lot of players come in for training, all of our results have been positive apart from one.

“We feel more prepared this time around, we are more organised and we know what teams we are going to face and the style of football.

“In the last friendly we had 20 players with us which I think is the group we will go with.

“If we can get a couple more who are better than what we have got then we might have to send a few down to the reserves.

“That is the plus side of having a reserve side - we can keep them at the club and have them play.”

Calne open their Toolstation League campaign with a trip to Bristol Telephones on Saturday.
