MEMBERS of Chippenham Moonrakers Gymnastics Club recorded strong results at the South West Springboard competition in Bristol across, coming away with 19 medals including a team silver and regional champion in the 13-14 years category.

In round one, which included the nine years category, Emily Clark placed 17th for Moonrakers, with Hermione Ferris 30th, Eloisa Slade 37th and Abigail Tobin 38th.

Sophie Townsend was third in the 12 years class, just ahead of Freya Gleed in fourth. Emily Macklin-Day was sixth, Jemma Vincent 11th and Tamar Hibbert 13th.

Alongside her overall bronze, Townsend also won gold on vault, while Gleed took bronze on vault and beam and a silver on floor.

The final category in round one was the ladies section, with Moonrakers’ Katie Strange finishing as overall runner-up after also gold on bars, silver on beam and floor and bronze on vault.

Moonrakers’ leading success came in round two in the 13-14 years class, as Kelsey Stokes was crowned overall champion, while Lauren Searle finished eighth. Stokes also won gold on floor and silver on vault and bars.

Prior to that was the 10 years category, where Leah Bishop took overall bronze, Katherine Allday was 20th, Florrie Strange 24th, Millie Stokes 31st, Madison Cox 33rd and Charlotte Foley 37th.

Bishop also won gold on bars while Stokes took bronze on beam.

Eva Falcony-Healy was the only Moonrakers competitor at round three in the 11 years category, where she won overall silver as well as silver on beam.

After all the results had been collated, Moonrakers were awarded the overall team silver medal from the eight clubs competing from across the South West region.
