PHIL Brown will meet with Swindon Town chairman Lee Power and two possible signings today with an aim to confirming four new players in the next 10 days.

Brown's troops gave onlookers reason to be optimistic ahead of the new season on Saturday afternoon as Town held Darren Moore's West Bromwich Albion first team to a 1-1 draw in a 60-minute game at the County Ground

Experience told in the second half, though, as the Baggies scored twice through Kyle Jameson and Kyle Edwards - resulting in Town's first pre-season loss.

But Brown was impressed by his side's ability to move the ball around quickly and retain possession well - traits that resulted in the visitors being restricted with regards to their options when moving forward.

And Town’s squad could be bolstered further this week as Brown confirmed he’s looking to add two centre-halves to his ranks as well as a midfield player and a striker.

This is in addition to the expected signing of Jak McCourt, who has a medical to complete before officially being unveiled as a Town player.

Brown said: “I’m meeting with two players, and hopefully a backroom staff member, today (Sunday).

“I’ve got three meetings today and then I’m driving across to meet the chairman to see if I can get them over the line financially.

“Then - fingers crossed - we’ll be working towards getting a couple of centre-halves in, a midfield player and a striker.

“If we can get those three or four confirmed in the next week to 10 days, I will be delighted. I’ll be very close to being a happy man and being happy with my squad.

“How quickly that will happen I don’t know, but fingers crossed we can announce something this week.”

Brown’s meetings today signal the start of his busiest week of the season to date with Town scheduled to play Chippenham at Hardenhuish Park on Tuesday night before facing Benfica at St George’s Park on Wednesday.

Another home challenge against League One outfit Portsmouth follows on Saturday, and then only two weeks remain until the club’s first League Two fixture of the season at home to Macclesfield.

With a trip to Swindon Supermarine also penned in, Brown confirmed players are now at the point where they can play for 90 minutes.

He said: “I think the team that played in the second half of Saturday’s game against West Brom will play Chippenham, and the team that played in the first 60 minutes against West Brom will play at St George’s against Benfica.

“With those back to back games we’ll then have everyone in the squad playing 90 minutes. Then we’ll be working towards our starting XI and working towards reaching that target in the final two weeks.”
