AN experienced West Bromwich Albion second team made light work of a youthful Swindon Town in the second half of this afternoon’s pre-season friendly.

Goals from Kyle Edwards and Kyle Jameson earned the visitors a 0-2 second half win, but Town by no means disgraced themselves with Scott Twine in particular proving his credentials against the likes of former England man Gareth Barry.

The two goals meant Darren Moore’s side won this afternoon’s extended pre-season friendly 1-3, with Moore and Swindon Town boss Phil Brown fielding members from their first and reserve teams throughout the contest.

Brown made nine changes with Joe Romanski and Chris Robertson remaining the centre of defence for an additional 30 minutes following the first 60-minute half.

West Brom re-established their one-goal lead shortly into the second half as Kyle Edwards rounded Town keeper Luke McCormick before tapping the ball into the net with McCormick stranded near the penalty spot.

Swindon responded well when Scott Twine showed signs of good movement to work his way into the 18-yard box before his shot was blocked, allowing James Dunne to strike from range and force a corner.

Jordan Edwards then rounded two visiting players to create space for Lloyd Sam on his right. Sam controlled the ball well before his shot was well saved by Brad House.

Phil Brown’s second team soon found themselves two goals behind on 80 minutes after Gareth Barry won a corner following an attacking run down the right.

The corner met the head of Kyle Jameson, who comfortably headed into McCormick’s top right corner to stretch Darren Moore’s side’s lead.

Only the crossbar could deny Scott Twine his second goal of pre-season after the teenager won a free-kick on the edge of the 18-yard box.

Twine’s effort crashed against the top of the upright before going behind for a goal kick.

A subdued 10-minute period followed with West Brom seemingly happy to pass the ball around as Town struggled for possession.

Twine was then presented with a second free-kick opportunity following a foul on James Dunne as the game neared 100 minutes.

A further accurate effort this time clipped the top of the wall as West Brom escaped, conceding only a corner which eventually went behind for a goal kick.

Jordan Young emerged with the ball moments later on the right before attempting to chip his effort over a rushing Brad House.

House got a touch to Young’s lob though, allowing the visitors to clear their lines as Town started to find their feet in the game once more.

Sol Pryce was left frustrated when his call for a penalty was turned down after it appeared the Town youngster was pushed to the ground when contesting a delivery from a corner.

Like the first half, both teams threatened little in the concluding 10 minutes as Town's third pre-season game ended in defeat.
