JONATHAN Parker claimed a fabulous five-wicket haul away at Cheltenham to fire Corsham to back-to-back wins for the first time this season in Premier Two Glos/Wilts.

After Tom Foley’s troops posted a target of 208 all out on their trip into Gloucestershire, Parker (5-24) and Martin Roberts (3-21) gave the home batsmen little time to settle in reply.

Only three Cheltenham players reached double figures as they subsided for just 99 in 32 overs to hand Corsham a dominant 109-run victory.

Captain Foley said: “We just about got to 200 with the bat, but then the bowlers came in and did an excellent job to get us the win. It was a good performance.

“Jonathan and Martin opened up with the ball and caused Cheltenham all sorts of problems. Martin even got a wicket with the very first ball of the innings.

“Early wickets are lovely as it gets your tails up, and Jonathan ended up getting a fifer, so he bowled really well.”

Having been asked to bat after losing the toss, Corsham started solidly and five of their top seven passed 20.

They were still precariously placed at 128-8 when captain Foley came to the crease, but his gritty 47 saw the visitors pass the 200 mark.

Luke Sellars turned in a classy display with the ball for Cheltenham to take 6-36, backed up by Liam Norwell (3-39).

Foley added: “There were a couple of loose shots from the guys, but Cheltenham bowled well.

“We did manage to get to 200 in the end anyway, which is always an acceptable score.

“I think this is the first time in more than a year that Corsham have won two games in a row so we’re slowly clicking together and we are start to build confidence within the team.”

Elsewhere, there were also two five-wicket hauls for Biddestone as they won the Wiltshire derby at home to Burbage & Easton Royal, easing to a one-side 119-run victory.

Tyrone Isitt (5-31) and Naeem Khan (5-36) terrorised the Burbage batting line-up to skittle them out for just 68 in 18 overs. Only captain David Cope reached double figures as the visitors finished well short of their target.

Earlier, Chris Baker’s unbeaten 90 had led the way for Biddestone after captain Luke Paines had opted to bat first, while Akito Jacques also made 50 as the home side posted 189-8 off a rain-reduced 46 overs.
