CHIPPENHAM'S Steve Wakefield clinched the Chew Valley Squash Club’s Butcombe Race of Champions title for a second time at the fourth of five scheduled open tournaments.
In a repeat of the first series final, Wakefield emerged from the knockout section to take on Mark Simmons in the championship semi-final.
Losing the first game 9-2, Wakefield levelled by winning the second 9-6, having been 6-2 behind, before routing Simmons 9-0 in the third and clinching the fourth 9-5.
Against series two champion Joey Williams, Wakefield dropped a see-saw first game 10-8 and then lost the second 9-1, but Wakefield levelled with 9-1 and 9-6 wins in the next two and then clinched the decider 9-2.
