WILTSHIRE racers Louis Harvey and Dominic Kilmister both secured top-10 placings at the first round of the 2018 Tuto SuperOne Series (British Karting Championship) at Larkhall’s Summerlee Raceway in Scotland.

Although a podium finish was out of reach, consistent results for Malmesbury’s Harvey over the weekend through timed qualifying, two heats and two finals, put him fifth in the standings.

Harvey clocked the eighth fastest in Saturday’s qualifying session, while Chippenham’s Kilmister found himself down in 19th after suffering a number of mechanical issues.

In heat one, Harvey finished fifth and Kilmister came home 18th, while the pair finished eighth and 18th respectively in heat two.

After the points from the heats were added up, Harvey secured seventh on the grid for the first final, with Kilmister down in 17th.

With his mechanical problems behind him and some wise words, Kilmister set about making up places from the start and ended up finishing a very creditable 12th, while Harvey retained his grid position of seventh.

A strong grid placing gave Harvey a good chance of a high finish in the second final and he got off to a superb start to climb to third. However, he was pushed wide and dropped back, eventually coming home in seventh.

Kilmister began further back in the back but quickly got his head down and attacked from the first corner, making up several placed before finishing 10th.
