THERE was never any doubt in Keshi Anderson’s mind when he came to decide whether or not to make his stay at Swindon Town a permanent one.

The young forward’s initial loan period at the Energy Check County Ground from Premier League outfit Crystal Palace expired after last Saturday’s 1-0 win at home to Forest Green Rovers in League Two.

Anderson, who joined the club on transfer deadline day last August, has proved a strong addition to manager David Flitcroft’s squad, scoring four goals in 25 appearances for Town in all competitions.

That form prompted Flitcroft to make moves to sign him from the Eagles on a full-time basis and after the deal was rubber-stamped earlier this week, Anderson says he never had any hesitation in staying on despite interest from elsewhere.

“I am glad it is all over and I can focus on the rest of the season now, focus on the team and getting what we want and that is promotion,” said Anderson.

“I knew there was interest from Swindon and the gaffer was saying there is no reason as to why he wouldn’t want me here.

“With the way the gaffer was talking, there wasn’t really any other place for me to go. I have found a home here and it is where I want to be.

“There were a few teams (interested) but I spoke to my agent and I am comfortable here and I have made a good base and now it is time to push on.”

Anderson has been a prominent figure in the Town side following his arrival at the club late last summer, starting all 22 league fixtures they have played since he first joined.

By contrast, the 22-year-old started just four games during a four-month loan spell at Bolton Wanderers at the beginning of last season, and nine more in a temporary stint at Northampton Town after that, so Anderson is relishing a run of regular game time under Flitcroft.

“Last season it was a lot of stop-start, although at Northampton I got a bit more football,” said Anderson.

“When trusted, I played well, but sometimes when the team is not playing so well, it is attacking players that get swapped around, so it was a bit of an in-out, in-out case.

“Since I have been here, I have been in the team weekly and I feel in the last month or two I have really been playing my best football since I have been here.

“I feel I have done as much as I have needed to for the team on and off-the-ball attacking-wise and defensively and hopefully I can add to that towards the end of the season.

“It’s about just pushing on and I only feel like I am going to get better. I am playing with confidence and the boys trust me, they know what they are getting with me and I am going to give it 100 per cent in every game.”

As well as a deal for Anderson, Flitcroft further bolstered his attacking options this week with the signing of striker Marc Richards on a free transfer after his release from Northampton.

Luke Norris and Kaiyne Woolery have been Town’s preferred front two of late and Anderson hopes more competition for places means everyone strives to improve.

“You want other players behind you knocking on the gaffer’s door saying I should be playing, so it is only going to bring the best out of you,” said Anderson.

“Some people can handle it and others can’t.

“I feel that with the players we have up front, it is just going to push everyone to be even better.”
