The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald:

ONE TO WATCH: Reuben Reid

HAVING turned out for 14 clubs during a nomadic career, striker Reuben Reid is no stranger to debuts.

However, few will have proven as successful as the one the striker made for Rovers last Saturday as his superb strike from outside the box settled the home clash with Port Vale and lifted them off the foot of the League Two table.

Rovers have relied upon lone frontman Christian Doidge for most of their goals this season and boss Mark Cooper insisted that Reid had been signed to complement, rather than replace, the leading scorer when he made the move from Exeter City last week.

The 29-year-old, whose long list of former clubs includes Plymouth and Rotherham, found the net 14 times as the Grecians reached the play-off final last season.

He penned a two-and-a-half year deal at The New Lawn for an undisclosed transfer fee.

KEY BATTLE: Olly Lancashire v Christian Doidge

NULLIFYING one of the most dangerous marksmen in the division will hold the key to Town’s chances of registering a third successive League Two victory.

Christian Doidge boasts 17 goals for Forest Green this term – including the winner in December’s Checkatrade Trophy meeting between the sides – and has been linked with a £1million January move to Cardiff City.

Town skipper Olly Lancashire, an ever present at the heart of the defence during the league campaign, will look to repeat the shut-out that helped his team earn a 2-0 victory in September’s reverse fixture.
