SWINDON Town may have left-back Chris Hussey available for Saturday's League Two Yeovil after the on-loan defender played a full part in training this week.

Hussey, 28, has been missing from the Town line-up since limping out of the second half of the 2-0 victory at Forest Green Rovers back in September with a groin injury but the Sheffield United man is poised to return to contention for the trip to the Glovers.

In his 11 appearances prior to his injury, Hussey impressed with his performances on the left side of Town's defender, particularly his set-piece delivery, and also netted an exquisite goal in the 3-0 win at Luton in early September.

Town boss David Flitcroft revealed the player's progress would be checked again on Friday morning with a view to including him in the squad for the Huish Park assignment, with the club aiming to extend their unbeaten record in all competitions to seven matches.

"Chris Hussey has trained with us today,'' Flitcroft told the media this afternoon.

"He's done three or four sessions this week, where he's been with the team and we're hoping he's had no setbacks.

"He'll be checked tomorrow morning to see if there is any reaction to him doing a full week of training.

"Chris has come through a heavy period of rehabilitation with his injury. We certainly won't rush it, but in the last two or three days I've seen Chris Hussey's potency really come back and I'm just hoping there are no significant changes tomorrow.

"So we could have Chris Hussey back so we're in a real good position in terms of getting players back with the first team and back in team training.''

Striker Harry Smith will also be available for the trip after coming through the necessary concussion checks following his nasty head bump in last Saturday's 2-2 home draw with Chesterfield.

Smith was taken out of the fray against the Spireites on medical advice after colliding with defender Sam Hird, his replacement Luke Norris scoring the injury-time penalty that earned the home side a point.

"Harry has trained with us today so Harry will be available for the game. I'm delighted with that one because his form has been fantastic,'' added Flitcroft.

"I'm relieved that he's okay. You have got to go off the doctors' advice. That's why you have the specialists there, qualified to make those decisions.

"We've all got to take heed. Yeah, you all want your players on the pitch and back in the day, players would strap their heads up, but you don't know the long-term damage of that.

"If the information is qualified and quantified then we have to take that view.''

Amine Linganzi was the other Town doubt after limping out of the early stages of the Chesterfield draw with hamstring trouble and his participation on Saturday is shrouded in more doubt.

"I think Amine is touch and go and we'll be able to decide on that one tomorrow,'' added Flitcroft.
