The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald:

ONE TO WATCH: Garry Thompson

THE very definition of a club cult hero, veteran winger Thompson re-signed for his boyhood club on June, after remaining in close contact with his former teammate and now manager Jim Bentley.

Thompson made 287 appearances for the club between 1999 and 2008, scoring 56 goals. He subsequently signing a three-year contract with Scunthorpe United in May 2008 and had further lower-league spells with Bradford City, Notts County and Wycombe Wanderers.

His second competitive debut for the Shrimps came in the opening game of the new season two weeks ago, a 2-1 win over Cheltenham Town.
Thompson scored both goals to complete his fairytale comeback for the Shrimps, including a last-minute winner.

KEY BATTLE: Paul Mullin v Patrick Brough

Signed on a free transfer following his release by Carlisle, 21-year-old full-back Brough could have his hands full against probably Town’s most in-form player in Mullin.

The 22-year-old forward has made a scintillating start to the campaign since signing for Town from the Shrimps on a two-year deal on an undisclosed fee over the summer.

Mullin’has already caused plenty of problems for Town’s opponents and he’s sure to relish a return to his old stomping ground.
