CLUB captain Olly Lancashire says that now Swindon Town have had a taste for the high life, they have no desire to give it up ahead.

The League Two season may be just two matches old but leaders Coventry City are the only side still able to boast a 100 per cent record.

Town continue their programme with a trip to Morecambe tomorrow and travel to the Globe Arena amongst a group of six teams tied for the ‘best of the rest’ moniker behind the Sky Blues with four points of a possible six.

That leaves David Flitcroft’s side nicely placed in the fledging stages of the season as they look to put together a campaign that will ultimately end in promotion to the fourth tier.

After two excellent results away at two of last season’s play-off qualifiers – Carlisle United and Exeter City – defender Lancashire thinks Town have only just started to show what they are capable of.

“There is only one team that has won both games so it proves that it is very difficult to win back-to-back games,” said Lancashire.

“I think four points from the two games against two decent teams and teams that are well fancied this year is a pretty good start.

“We are looking to keep going and Morecambe represent a different sort of test but we will be going there to get the three points.

“Exeter got to Wembley last year and Carlisle were in the play-offs too and that is the standard that we want to be reaching this year at least.

“Playing those two teams and winning one and drawing one, it goes to show we don’t have to fear anyone in this league. When we are at it and when we are on it, hopefully we can win more than we lose.

“It is always like this in this league. Most teams are pretty similar and anyone can beat anyone, it’s all about fine margins.

“I think we are fifth or sixth at the moment and although it’s still early days, we don’t really want to be dropping down any lower than that. It’s been a good start and hopefully we can maintain it.”

Although they remain unbeaten in the league, Town have tasted two cup defeats as well this term, going out of the Carabao Cup at Norwich City before losing their opening Checkatrade Trophy contest at home to West Ham United U23s.

However, both of those were by narrow 3-2 scorelines and Lancashire believes Swindon can pose plenty of problems in attack to whoever they may face this term.

“We have said if before but with Chris Hussey, we are always going to get opportunities to score goals from set plays, which is massive in this league,” said Lancashire.

“The signing of Kaiyne Woolery has helped things, Luke Norris has started really well and Paul Mullin has got a few goals as well.

“The team is looking strong and confident and it’s always nice for the fans to see goals. We will be looking to score as many goals as we can but try to keep a clean sheet as well, if possible.”
