SO here we are, the last game of what has been a dismal season for the Robins.
Relegation to League Two was confirmed last week and now we have a trip to Charlton to wrap up the campaign, in what is essentially a dead rubber.
To be honest our fate was sealed around the turn of the year.
We were not good enough in the first half of the season and nothing inspiring in the transfer window, except for Rowan Ince, we were not good enough to turn things around.
Despite a turn of fortune in the last few matches, which sparked a resurgence and a glimmer of hope, there was just too much to do.
The fact that we could keep the hope going to the penultimate game was something of a miracle.
I thought we would have been condemned sometime before Easter.
So, as we say farewell to third-tier football, we will also be saying farewell to several players.
The rebuild, cuts, reformation starts again.
Life in League Two this time round will be somewhat different to the last time.
We won’t have a flamboyant, charismatic and somewhat eccentric character at the helm.
Life will be tough and unless there are drastic changes it could be more of the same.
A quick promotion back to League One could be just a pipe dream.
