SWINDON Robins have made a new addition to the 2017 line-up - and are hoping the club’s younger fans can help name him.
A brand new Robins mascot has been designed and produced by artist and speedway fan Tim Beaumont, with the Abbey Stadium club now launching a competition for children aged 11 or under to unearth a moniker for the creation.
Prizes for the winning selection include the chance to be an official junior Robins mascot at a home meeting, a 2017 Robins race jacket signed by the Swindon team, a photograph with a member of the team, an Abbey Stadium pit walk as well as leading the riders out on a pre-meeting parade.
Parents can send their child’s chosen name, accompanied by the hashtag #nameourrobin via Twitter to @SwindonSpeedway, to the club’s official Facebook page or the Swindon Robins Supporters Group Facebook page, or via email to the club’s commerical manager Lee Kilby at leekilby@swindonrobins.co.
In the result of the same winning name being chosen by multiple entries, a draw will be made to decide the winner.
The competition closes at noon on Friday, April 7.
SUPPORTERS can see the 2017 Robins riders on track for the first time today when the club host their annual pre-season press and practice day.
Gates will open to the public at the Abbey Stadium at 5pm and admission is free, although the club have asked that those in attendance make a donation to St John’s Ambulance.
