DERRY Hill golfer Jordan Smith comfortably made the first cut by adding a second-round 70 to his first round 68 at the ISPS Handa World Super 6 in Australia this morning.

Smith, 24, fired five birdies but did drop two shots in his final three holes to stand at six under par in total and inside the top 20 at Lake Karrinyup.

Under the new tournament format, the field will be cut again to 24 players ahead of Sunday's matchplay stage in which they will contest a six-hole format to determine the champion.

Australia's Brett Rumford claimed the halfway lead as home players dominated, adding a second round of 65 to his opening 66 to finish 13 under par, two shots ahead of compatriot David Bransdon, whose flawless 64 was a shot outside the course record.
