HEAD coach Luke Williams has no doubt that Swindon Town can still turn the corner in their season, despite suffering another setback in defeat at home to Peterborough United on Saturday.

A last-gasp come-from-behind victory at Bolton Wanderers seven days earlier had suggested that brighter days were ahead for Town as they look to haul themselves away from the League One relegation zone.

However, the result at the Macron Stadium was not backed up with three more points against the Posh and a narrow 1-0 defeat left Swindon just three points above the bottom four.

Williams could not hide his disappointment at suffering another day to forget in front of Town’s own supporters but he is not giving up hope that the shoots of recovery that were on show against the Trotters can still bear fruit more regularly.

“It is very frustrating. We are all feeling it and with the players coming in and joining the group and going to Bolton and getting that result; I felt maybe this is the point it is going to turn,” said Williams.

“I think that still might be the case, that people are going to step up and be able to give us more of a clinical edge inside the box and around the box.

“But again, we are waiting and sitting here frustrated after a good away win and now a defeat at home.”

Williams admits the Town coaching staff and players are all being left perplexed by the team’s inability to string results together but he is adamant there is no point ostracising one another, and it is instead vital everyone pulls in the same direction to find the solution to the problem sooner rather than later.

“We will never stop trying and the players will never stop trying. They are not sitting in there think that everything is rosy – they are sitting in there very disappointed and gutted, really,” said Williams.

“They are looking at themselves wondering why they can’t reproduce and so are the staff. We are with them and they are with us, and we are all searching for the answers.”
