SWINDON Wildcats have moved to assure fans that Saturday’s game with Manchester Phoenix will currently go ahead as planned after talks between both clubs.
The Cats are set to host the financially stricken club this Saturday (5.45pm) but the future of the Phoenix has been thrown into doubt after owner Neil Morris stepped away from the club last Saturday, as reported earlier this week.
Wildcats general manager Steve Nell has been in conversations with Phoenix head coach Tony Hand, who is looking for new investors to see the club, who currently sit at the foot of the English Premier League table, through to the end of the season.
A statement released by the Wildcats read: “As of this moment, the game will be going ahead as planned.
“This would then allow the Phoenix to complete their remaining fixtures for the rest of the season.
“If there is any reason that the game will be called off all fans will be notified immediately through the Swindon Wildcats social media channels.”
Saturday’s fixture at the Link Centre is also the Wildcats’ designated ‘Teddy Bear Toss’ game. More information on this can be found here.
