SWINDON Town have announced the signing of Rhys Sharpe on a short-term deal following a successful trial spell.

Sharpe, who came through the ranks at Pride Park but did not make a senior appearance for the Rams, featured in Town’s development game against AFC Wimbledon at the end of October.

The 22-year-old former Northern Ireland U21 international was without a club after his contract at League Two side Notts County was ended by mutual consent in August.

Sharpe, who can play at centre-back or left-back, is eligible to feature in tonight’s Checkatrade Trophy game with Luton Town (kick-off 7.45pm).
