FORMER Swindon Town striker Nile Ranger appears to have found a settled home at Southend United after signing a new long-term contract at Roots Hall.

The 25-year-old, who penned a deal until the end of the end of the current campaign after impressing on trial in the summer, will now be with the club until the completion of the 2019-20 season.

The former Newcastle United man arrived at the County Ground as a free agent in 2013 and went on to score 10 goals in 28 appearances but his time with Town was marred by a number of disciplinary issues, with the frontman agitating then-manager Mark Cooper by failing to turn up to training on a number of occasions.

In April 2014, shortly before his deal with the club was cancelled by mutual consent, Ranger was charged with criminal damage for kicking down the door of his own Swindon flat, with the frontman fined and made to pay court costs, as well as compensating the landlord of the property.

A HOST of League One clubs will reportedly be watching Sutton United winger Roarie Deacon when his side take on Cheltenham Town in the second round of the FA Cup today.

Barnsley, Bristol Rovers and Charlton Athletic are all credited with an interest in the 25-year-old former Arsenal and Sunderland trainee, who has also had spells with Stevenage and Crawley Town.

BOLTON Wanderers’ players were belatedly paid their wages for November on Thursday, with chairman Ken Anderson forking out from his own pocket.

Anderson is currently in talks to become the sole owner of the Whites, seeking to purchase Dean Holdsworth’s 40 per cent stake in the club.

The Bolton co-owner has also warned that there is a risk of the club being forced into administration should a deal for him to take on Holdsworth’s stake not be reached.

The Whites avoided going in to adminstration earlier this year.
