HARRY Toffolo has thanked Swindon Town for getting him to where he is today as he prepares to face the team he helped to the League One play-off final.

Toffolo, who spent the 2014-15 season on loan at the County Ground from Norwich City as Town fell short of promotion, quickly won the admiration of the home fans.

Now plying his trade for Scunthorpe United, having been farmed out to both Rotherham United and Peterborough United last term, the 21-year-old was on the lookout for when he would be facing his former club.

“As soon as I go anywhere on loan in League One, I always look out for this fixture,” he told the Adver, as he looks forward to being reacquainted with old friends like Nathan Thompson.

“It is always really good to play in front of the home fans at Glanford Park but I was looking to see if it was away so I could go back to the County Ground because I haven’t been back since.

“I would love to go back there to play a game, although it would be in the opposite kit.

“The fans were fantastic, the Swindon Supporters Trust were amazing to me when I was there and they have probably got me to where I am today.

“Mark Cooper and Luke Williams gave me the opportunity and I really appreciated it and I can’t wait for the game on Saturday.”

However, those kind word will be put to one side for 90 minutes come kick-off at Glanford Park tomorrow and Toffolo insists his teammates will not be taking their lofty position at the summit of League One for granted as they entertain a struggling Town side.

“The manager and the coaching staff here are fantastic and the backing from the chairman and the chief executive is also great,” he added.

“It is a club that is moving in the right direction, it is not one where we will get too ahead of ourselves and we will just take it game by game, the gaffer here is really strict on that.

“When you have got players in your team like Josh Morris, who is a top scorer in Europe, it is always nice to have players like that in your side.

“You can’t take any team lightly in this league, especially when you are at the top.

“Everybody wants to beat the team at the top, so every game is a tough game.

“We have to prepare right in everything we do and we have been doing that this week and everything has been perfect.”
